General Eligibility Criteria for Medical entrance Examinations
Candidates who wish to attempt the mentioned medical entrance tests have to be at least 17 years of age. He/She must have passed 10+2 exam from a recognized university with Physics, Chemistry and biology as compulsory subjects in 11th and 12th class.
Every year, applications are invited for All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental entrance examination (AIPMT) to be conducted by the Central board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Delhi for admission to 15% of the total seats for Medical/Dental Courses in all Medical/Dental Colleges run by the Union of India. State Governments, Municipal and other local authorities in India except in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. The two-stage examination comprises a objective format Preliminary Examination and Final Examination.
The Preliminary Examination would consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of the paper would be 3 hours.
The finally Examination would consist of one paper containing 120 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology) to be answered•on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of the paper would be 3 hours.
Language of the Question Papers
Candidate can opt for question papers either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling in the Application Form. It cannot be changed later.
Candidates who are interested in getting admission in AIIMS MBBS program must have passed 12th exam from a recognized board with at least 60% aggregate marks. Student should have Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects in 11th and 12th. Also, the age should be at least 17yrs. Those who are appearing in the final exams of the qualifying exam in 2011 can also apply for this exam.
The date of the entrance examination is fixed to be in the First week of June. The paper is three and a half hours in duration and has over 200 multiple choice and reason-assertion type questions. There are 60 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology and 20 questions from General Knowledge. There is negative marking for incorrect answers.
Total 130 candidates (105 Boys and 25 girls) are selected. All the 130 candidates admitted to AFMC, compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services on graduation of commission generally depends upon the vacancies available and merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination. The liability of the SSC officers passing out of AFMC to serve the Armed Forces Medical Services is seven (7) years. Candidates are required to appear in the competitive written test of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Intelligence, logic, Reasoning and English Language and comprehension.
